Stoke City's Britannia home ground to be renamed after gambling company from start of next season


Stoke City's would see their home ground changed from the start of next season, it has been revealed. The ground which is currently known as Britannia stadium will be from next season be referred to as the bet365 Stadium.

The online betting company, bet365, have agreed a six-year deal with the club, which is owned by Potters chairman Peter Coates and his family, to rename the stadium.

The Potters have also announced a three-year extension to their kit sponsorship deal with bet365 and that the scoreboard corner will be filled in to create 1,800 seats and take their capacity above 30,000 by season 2017-18.

Chief executive Tony Scholes said: "As supporters are no doubt aware, the Britannia brand no longer exists and it was important that we attracted a new stadium naming rights partner.

"The Premier League is watched around the world and bet365 are a truly global company."
