Court Sacks NFF President Amaju Pinnick, instated election opponent Chris Giwa vows to take over immediately as the drama continues...

Earlier this morning, a High court sitting in Jos nullified the election of NFF President Amaju Pinnick as the president of the Federation after challenging the September 30, 2014 election process in Warri.. In his place, the court then restored his election rival Chris Giwa.

While Giwa says “This is victory for Nigeria football. The right ruling has been made and we are taking over immediately,", an NFF media representative revealed that they have swiftly filed an appeal to the ruling.
"It's true Pinnick's election has been nullified. That's the decision of the Jos High Court."

As to the reason for the nullification, he said:
"It's the same merry go round since 2014 with Giwa. But we have filed an appeal. And we have asked for a stay of execution'

Pinnick was in a closed door meeting with his associates and legal representatives, and is yet to make a public comment. Head of Sports at Channels TV, Austin Okon-Akpan, has now revealed that Giwa plans to take over from Amaju Pinnick with immediate effect. He tweeted...

It is important to remember that before the elections in Warri, Christopher Giwa, amidst controversial circumstance had been declared the through another congress in Abuja.

Fast-forward to 2015, Justice Ambrose Allagoa, who presided over the hearing, had ruled that the election as well as the congress preceding it were against his orders and ordered the plaintiff Christopher Giwa to return to office. But the world governing body, FIFA warned that Nigeria will be banned if the court ruling stops the newly warri-elected executive committee of Amaju Pinnick from working.

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, then intervened when he called parties to a peace meeting where he pleaded for the crisis to end and prevent Nigeria from an imminent FIFA ban.

When Plaintiff counsel, Habila Ardzard, was to withdraw the matter, he told the court then, “The number one citizen had demanded to intervene in the matter and that if parties are not satisfied, they can return to court.”

In January, Sports minister Solomon Dalung supposedly resolved the issue after insults and abuses were hauled at each other. Read that here...
