Cesc Fabregas says 'I love Jose' he was sacked because he TRUSTED his Chelsea players too much
Jose Mourinho was sacked just 6-months after winning the Premier League title at Stamford Bridge - 5 years after they last won it. The ax came after a breakdown with his first team players, most especially his key players with Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas fingered as prime suspects. They have since been slated, called traitors and snakes by Chelsea fans.
However, Fabregas has spoken out about his mistakes as well as that of his teammates, admitting that the Portuguese was sacked for trusting them too much. This admission by the Spaniard was also suggested by Mourinho who is the favourite to take over at Manchester United at the end of the season, when he insisted that he was betrayed by his players.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, he said: "A lot has been said. I love Jose and I consider him my friend and we still keep in touch right now.
"Some of the things said were unfortunate, but I have huge respect for him.
"I think Jose's biggest problem was that he trusted us too much. He gave us more holiday because we were champions. He had been trusting us and we let him down.
"The whole team has, all of the players, and that was the main reason why he had to go.
"For that, myself and the rest of the team, we feel bad for that." This season would be the third season in 12 years that the Blues have gone the season without a trophy
