Alexandre Pato is fighting to remain at Chelsea, Brazilian's agent claims

Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato who is currently on a 6-month contract with Chelsea is hoping to make the deal a permanent one by the end of the season, according to his agent.

The Brazilian was initially frozen out due to fitness issues at Stamford Bridge for the first two and a half months of his loan move, with manager Guus Hiddink opting for youngsters Kenedy and Bertrand Traore.

However, he was eventually handed his first appearance last weekend when Loic Remy suffered a first half injury against relegation bound Aston Villa. He came on to win a penalty which he converted and played a crucial role in their third, on the way to a 4:0 win.

Speaking to Goal.com following his client's first start in Chelsea's 1-0 loss to Swansea, Kia Joorabchian revealed that Pato is looking to stay in England and indeed, with Chelsea: "He wanted to come to Chelsea, that was his first choice. He loves the Premier League and wants to stay here if Chelsea want to keep him.

"He’ll speak with the club at the end of the season – there is a new manager coming in and we will have to have a conversation [about a permanent transfer].

"I think a lot of things will change between now and the end of the season. He was very successful in his first Premier League match and he needs to continue to impress."
