Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne robbed at gunpoint in Naples city centre...and you won't believe the thief's demand

Lorenzo Insigne who plays for Italian side Napoli was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend as he was driving through Naples, an are known for much crime.

According to his agent on Monday, the 24-year-old midfielder was driving with his wife and two friends late on Saturday when he stopped at a traffic light.

A gunman on the back of a motorbike then pulled up next to him and forced the four occupants to hand over their valuables.

The thief for some bizzare reason found a funny side to the incident then went on to ask the player to dedicate a goal to him when they take on Fiorentina on Monday night as he drove off.

The Italian media claim the masked robber carted away with a Rolex watch, jewels and €800 (£628.78) in cash.
'Lorenzo suffered a terrible experience and told me that it was a really bad moment,' said his agent, Antonio Ottaiano.

Insigne however, joined his teammates at a training session on Sunday and is expected to play on Monday.
The Italian government announced earlier this month it was sending additional troops to Naples to help fight an upsurge of violence in the city, with 12 people reported killed this year in murders linked to a mob turf war.

He has so far scored 11 goals in Serie A this season for his team in second position.
