Breaking! Manchester United's Old Trafford South Stand to be renamed after crash surviving club legend Sir Bobby Charlton

Old Trafford’s last surviving original stand, South Stand, since the 1910 stadium infrastructure, is set to be named after one of the club’s greatest-ever players, Sir Bobby Charlton.

Charlton who turned up 758 times scoring 249 times for the Red Devils between 1956-1973 was one of the 21 survivors of the unfortunate 1958 Munich air disaster that saw 23 United staff and players loose their lives.

Sir Robert 'Bobby' Charlton is now United director and would witness the unveiling of the new name when his side take on Everton at the home on 2 April 2016 in front of 75,000 fans. The club hope the event would be attended by key figures from Sir Bobby’s life and the world of football.

Until recently, he also held the honour of highest goal scorer for England, with 49 in his 106 appearances, until United captain Wayne Rooney broke the record against Switzerland in September 2015.
