Bayern Munich's defensive problems continue as champions league returns

The German champions have been dealt another blow after it was confirmed that defender Holger Badstuber would be out for three months. The unlucky defender suffered an ankle injury in training and has undergone a surgery that would see him sit out a quarter of a year for recovery.

This comes as a huge blow to Guardiola who already has Jerome Boateng, Medhi the Benatia and Javi Martinez all out. It is however more disturbing for Badstuber himself who only recently returned to fitness this season following a succession of knee and hamstring injuries. He has made just 17 Bundesliga appearances since his first serious injury a torn cruciate knee ligament in a league game against Borussia Dortmund in December 2012.

Speedy recovery to Badstuber!
