Breaking! SA FIFA presidential candidate Tokyo Sexwale withdraws from the race moments before voting kicked off!

South African FIFA presidential candidate Tokyo Sexwale has withdrawn his candidacy in a dramatic fashion just moments before casting of votes were set to begin in Zurich.

While speaking as the last of five candidates to the congress of world football's governing body, the 62-year-old South African, a former anti-apartheid activist who was imprisoned on Robben Island with Nelson Mandela, shockingly closed his speech by declaring that he would not run.

The last of the five candidates to speak before voting began, he ended his speech by telling delegates he was pulling out of the race, adding: "It's your problem now."

Closing his unscripted speech to voters, Sexwale said: "My campaign is suspended as of now."

Sexwale who had revealed to ESPN before the congress started that he would prefer an African or Asian president then stressed that he was ready to serve the new president before leaving the stage to a standing ovation from many delegates.
