John Terry set for behind-closed-door friendly ahead of crunch PSG clash

John Terry has been out with a hamstring injury since he trudged off the pitch in his side's 5-1 win over Newcastle on February 13.

Chelsea who have dilly-dallied in offering him another contract are now considering lining up a behind-closed-doors friendly for him as he faces a‘very tight’ race to be fit in time to face Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Speaking on a potential friendly for the legendary captain, Hiddink said: ‘It's very, very tight, it's very tight. We’ll see how we react and if he needs a game we might organise a game, an intense game.
‘Maybe he needs 11 vs 11 at Cobham or maybe six vs six or seven vs seven, but with intensity. It's very tight, it's very tight.’

Although Terry has been training with the rest of the first-team squad since last Wednesday but Hiddink says the skipper wasn’t even close to being ready to play at St Mary’s.
He has missed three matches, in the FA cup against City, Champions League against PSG and league against Southampton.

‘He's working this week and he went on the pitch and we looked at him and we asked him how he feels. He said: "I feel OK, but not ready to play".
‘I'll be careful, because I have the experience in the past with these kind of injuries. Someone thinks "I'm fine, I feel OK", but the demands of the game are a little bit different than, although it's heavy, training.
‘I prefer to wait, although everyone is knocking on the door, I prefer to wait especially in relation to the games coming up.’
