Zinedine Zidane's France 1998 World Cup triumph shirt sold for a whooping £78,000!
The champions league finalist played a starring role in the 1998 final, helping France to glory as they were crowned world champions after beating pre-tournament favorites Brazil 3-0 - he scored the first two goals with perfect headers all from corner-kicks.
A specialist collector of football shirts, Olivier Demolis, authenticated the shirt at adidas' headquarters, then completed the purchase.
He told Le Messager: 'Someone close to Montpellier's president [Louis Nicollin] told me that a former France international player was in possession of the shirt and would be willing to sell it.
'Out of the other two, he gave one to his brother and [Bixente] Lizarazu has the other one'.
It is understood that Demolis intends to donate the shirt to the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich.
