Ighalo, Iwobi, Onazi, others arrive in France while Iheanacho, Omeruo are held back by visa challenges ahead of friendly


Super Eagles stars have begun to arrive in their France camp ahead of a friendly international with Mali’s Les Aigles at the Stade Robert Diochon in Rouen on Friday night.

First in was striker Odion Ighalo who arrived on Tuesday night. He has since been joined by 16 others some of which flew in from Abuja aboard an Air France flight on Tuesday. The players from Abuja  are: Ogenyi Onazi, Brown Ideye, Abdullahi Shehu, Umar Aminu, Kingsley Madu, Elderson Echiejile, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Etebo Oghenekaro and Musa Muhammed.

Others are England –based goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, Alex Iwobi, Germany –based defender Leon Balogun, and Belgium –based forward Moses Simon.

Meanwhile, Morocco –based midfielder Babatunde Michael and Turkey –based Raheem Lawal and Gbenga Arokoyo were being expected on Wednesday night.

South Africa –based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Norway –based defender William Troost Ekong are expected on Thursday.

Manchester City youngster Kelechi Iheanacho and Turkey –based defender Kenneth Omeruo have been held back by visa hitch. However, they are expected to get theirs on Thursday, Eagles Administrator Enebi Achor revealed.

The team trained on Wednesday evening, and are expected to train twice on Thursday, at 9am and at 6pm.

The game kicks off at 7pm local time.

Eagles other match will be in Luxembourg on May  the 31st.

Both games are aimed at preparing for the the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which begin in October.
