Crazy MLS salaries revealed: Kaka is the highest paid, and Lampard earns 70 times more than HIS TEAMMATE!

In the Major League Soccer, there is what they call Designate Players (DPs), this rule was introduced in July 2015 to open the door for clubs to add more "high-earning" players.
MLS clubs are limited to three designated players per team, but targeted allocation money from the league gives teams added flexibility by allowing them to buy down the contracts of existing DPs.
It also allows them to bring in big names such as David Beckham who was the first player signed under the DP rule, but critics have it merely leads to increased inequality.
Each MLS club receives $100,000 per year for five years effective 2015, ($500,000 total) in additional funds to invest in their roster outside of the player salary budget of $3.49 million.

Figures released on Thursday by the MLS players union reveals that their top 20 earners make nearly half of league's entire wages. A perfect difference is the 70 times difference in Frank Lampard's wages and that of his teammate Tommy McNamara.

See list of some of MLS' highest earned players....

Kaka - £4.9m

The Brazilian is the highest paid player in Major League Soccer, taking home $7.16million (£4.9m) a year. He joined Orlando City in 2014, and since receives approximately £94,000-a-week from the Eastern Conference side.
That singular wage amounts for a staggering 62 per cent of the entire Orlando team's payroll!

Sebastian Giovinco - (£4.85m)
The Italian who plays for Toronto FC, is the second highest paid. The former Juventus man earns $7.11m (£4.85m).

Despite not living up to expectations since their move across the pond, however, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard still get a generous pay from their respective clubs.

Steven Gerrard - (£4.18m)
LA Galaxy midfielder Gerrard's annual salary is $6.13m (£4.18m), which works out at just over £80,000-a-week. That's considerably more than his Irish team-mate Robbie Keane, who earns $3.5m (£2.39m) a year - £46,000-a-week.

Frank Lampard - (£4.1m)
The former Chelsea man is the second highest paid Englishman at $6m (£4.1m) per year. His European teammates from across the pond Andrea Pirlo and David VIlla earn slightly less ($5.91m) and ($5.61m) respectively.

The highest paid American in the league is Toronto FC captain Michael Bradley. He takes home $6.5m (£4.45m) a year while compatriot and former Tottenham midfielder Clint Dempsey pockets $4.6m (£3.15m).

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is paid $2.16m (£1.48m) by Montreal Impact. Other notable players include Jozy Altidore ($4.8m), Gio dos Santos ($4.25m) and Liam Ridgewell ($1.25m)

Meanwhile while Frank Lampard has not played any game this season, at the other end Diego Valeri, one of the league’s most skilful playmakers, earns $550,000 at Portland, and his midfield team-mate Darlington Nagbe earns $500,000. Ignacio Piatti at Montreal is guaranteed $425,000, while Lampard's teammate Tommy McNamara, is paid just $73,500 in base salary, and $85,000 overall.
