NO FLIPPING WAY! Man United beat Real Madrid in 2015/16 shirt sales - but you won't believe the English team that tops both
Not to diss alright? But I am not sure exactly how this came to pass...
Despite their desaster of a season and having achieved the record of making the worst defense of their Barclays Premier League title, it has been revealed Chelsea sold more shirts worldwide than any other English club in 2015-16. Ring Ring.
The Blues sold 3,102,000 shirts across the globe in the past 1 year.
The figure means they slot in at 3rd under Bayern Munich, who sold 3,312,000, and list-toppers Barcelona, who sold 3,637,000 shirts over the course of the season, this is according to sports marketing agency Euroamericas.
United come in fourth under Chelsea, with their poor season reflected by falling down the list, despite a 34 per cent increase in shirt sales. United chief executive Woodward has seen United slip to fourth in the global list.
The Red Devils shipped 2,977,000 shirts, sitting just above Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants selling 2,866,000.
Paris Saint-Germain's consistent progression into the world's elite is further exemplified by their 6th position on the list (2,212,000) above the Premier League's only other representative, Arsenal, who sold £2,055,000 - over one million less than their city rivals.
Atletico Madrid's continued success, which has seen them reach a second Champions League final in three years, means they take a place in the top 10 for the first time, selling 1,977,000.
Italian pair Juventus (1,678,000) and AC Milan (1,287,000) complete the list.
Despite their failure to reach the Champions League final for the third consecutive year, Bayern saw the biggest increase in shirt sales (40 per cent) marginally beating Chelsea (39 per cent).
