Saido Mane completes Liverpool move as Kloop continues to instill his mark on the Reds squad

Southampton's Sadio Mane has completed his £30million move to Liverpool after initially travelling to Merseyside on Monday to undergo a medical and sort out personal terms with chief executive Ian Ayre. The Senegalese has since penned a five-year contract with the Reds and will wear the No 19 shirt.

It is understood that Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp, went for the capture of the 24-year-old after it became clear Mario Gotze was unobtainable this summer. This latest buy would be the club's third most expensive signing of all time, behind Andy Carroll and Christian Benteke. Although it would have been £5m more than Caroll's if they had agreed to Southampton's asking £40m price.

Upon signing, Mane said: 'Today is a big day and I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It's a club that has won a lot of trophies and has a big history.
'Now I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and my teammates and starting the season.'

Klopp believes Mane has the pace, energy and aggression that he wants to give Liverpool's attack a different dimension.

According to SportsMail "It had been the German's desire to have Mane on board for the start of pre-season - Liverpool's non European Championship players report for work on July 2 - and he could make his debut in the first pre-season game at Tranmere on July 8."

As Liverpool continue to make Southampton some sort of feeder club for them in the past 3 summers, following the recent move, the Saint Mary's club will have received £91.5million in transfer fees from Liverpool with Adam Lallana (£25m), Dejan Lovren (£20m), Nathaniel Clyne (£12.5m) and Rickie Lambert (£4m).

Klopp fingered Mane after he he scored twice and inspired a dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool at St Mary's on March 20.

Alongside Mane, Joel Matip [Schalke], Marko Grujic [Red Star Belgrade] and goalkeeper Loris Karius [Mainz] are all new acquisitions by the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

More additions are expected before the end of the transfer window with bids already submitted for the Udinese midfielder Piotr Zelinski and Leicester left back Ben Chilwell, while they continue to track Borussia Monchengladbach's Mahmoud Dahoud.
