Iceland heroes to be honoured

Iceland President has decided to honour its heroic players with an equivalent of a knighthood following their victory over England.

Gudni Johannesson, who was elected last weekend, will bestow the prestigious ‘Order of the Falcon’ on the squad. The number one citizen was in Nice to witness the astonishing upset on Monday night that would live long in memory and met the squad after the game.

Co-coaches Lars Lagerback [who was former Super Eagles manager] and Heimir Hallgrimsson alongside the players will be presented with the Grand Cross in January, it has been announced.

It is important to note that this is their debut appearance in the competition.
