Arsene Wenger Admits Defeat in Vardy Chase reveals the exciting potential targets on his radar

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he expects the £20m deal to bring Leicester City and England international star Jamie Vardy to the Emirates will end in failure, the London Evening Standard reports.

There had been reports that a proposed move for Vardy was imminent earlier this month after Arsenal activated the reported £20m release clause in his Leicester City contract. A verbal agreement was also said to have bern reached with regards to personal terms for the former Fleetwood Town striker, with Arsenal offering a reported £120,000-a-week in a three-year deal, with an option for a further year. Leicester made a counter offer of £100,000-a-week, though less than the Londoner's, it is understood his teammates made an emotional plea to him to stay.

However, with the Gunners waiting, there has been confirmation from the Vardy camp to the proposed move instead, the 29-year-old said to have asked for more time to make a decision, especially with his involvement in Euro 2016.
Reports had suggested Vardy was widely expected to turn down a move to north London as it continued to stall and it now appears Wenger has given up and confirmed that the England striker will be staying at the King Power Stadium this summer.

The Frenchman  appeared on Japanese TV this weekend and revealed that Arsenal werenot expecting a move for Vardy to be completed.
“Jamie Vardy, at the moment, is at Leicester,” he said. “On what I know, he will stay at Leicester.”

Wenger has already acted swiftly in the transfer market this summer after a £32m deal for Granit Xhaka was completed last month, but a potential Vardy snub would come as a massive blow for Arsenal.
But the Frenchman, currently in France, revealed he is scouting potential targets at Euro 2016, with young, exciting players such as France's Kingsley Coman and Anthony Martial impressing the former Monaco boss.

“At the moment most talented young players are in France,” he said. “We speak about Martial, we speak about Coman, who are still about 20. I’ve seen a very talent who came on the other day from Turkey, [Emre] Mor.
“He came on the other day against Croatia and I was very impressed by his talent. You have some other players like [Leroy] Sane, in Germany, who has not played yet. It will be very interesting to follow what [Julian] Draxler does. There’s plenty to watch.”
