David de Gea to Sign for Real Madrid 'In a Matter of Days' - Madrid paper AS report

Contrary to reports earlier in the summer, Spanish media have reported that David de Gea is set to become a Real Madrid player 'in a matter of days', with reports of a clause in the goalkeeper's contract which will allow the Champions League holders to buy the Manchester United goalkeeper for around €50m.

Madrid paper, AS report that the clause must be activated before 15 June though, adding a ticking clock element to proceedings as De Gea gears up to begin Spain's Euro 2016 campaign against the Czech Republic on Monday afternoon.
The Spanish newspaper claim that Real president Florentino Perez feels a 'moral obligation' to bring De Gea to the Bernabeu this summer, having made a promise to the Spain stopper when his deadline day move fell through last summer in farcical circumstances.

It's said that De Gea wants the situation resolved as quickly as possible so that he can continue to focus on the summer's major tournament - with Spain looking to defend their title and become the first team to win the trophy three times in a row.

The Spanish report claims that De Gea will become a Real Madrid player 'save a Mourinho plot, or sabotage to the famous BernabĂ©u fax machine', a move which would devastate an already shaky United side for whom De Gea has won the club's Player of the Year award three seasons running.
No mention is made of Friday's revelations in a Spanish court, which saw De Gea named as an organising party in a sexual assault - with serious allegations being thrown around which could seriously impact on De Gea's future if eventually proven guilty.
