Jamie Vardy confirms Arsenal snub, signs new £100,000-a-week four-year to remain a loyal Fox

Jamie Vardy has signed a new four-year contract and confirming reports he had turned down the offer to join Arsenal.
The striker has been deliberating a move since Arsene Wenger triggered his £20million release clause on June 3 but has now decided to remain at the King Power Stadium after emotional pleas from his teammates.

The Foxes reacted swiftly to Arsenal’s offer of £120,000 per week by making a counter bid of fresh terms worth around £100,000 per week and Vardy will sign on again once Euro 2016 is over.
He would have earned even more at the Emirates due to the club's larger fan base and commercial pull but reports claim he has chosen to stay as he "always felt a strong attachment to Leicester and their style of play".

The 29-year-old’s new contract sees him commit until summer 2020 – taking him to the age of 33 – and represents good news for the club given the effect it will have on the rest of the squad.

It is a second new contract in five months, having signed up until 2019 back in February on wages worth £80,000 per week. The release clause, attainable to any interested party in the Champions League, was inserted as a compromise due to Vardy receiving less than the six-figure weekly deal generally brought home by the Premier League’s elite forwards.
This comes as Wenger viewed the £20m price, as value for money and acted by lodging the required bid and agreeing personal terms.

Manchester United were also interested and manager,  Jose Mourinho, is believed to have made a check call with the club wishing to bring in another striker on top of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Foxes paid Fleetwood Town £1million for his services in 2012 - a non-league record fee till date - and stuck by him as he struggled to adjust to the demands of the Championship in his debut season.
That faith was more than repaid as Vardy struck 24 goals – including netting in a record 11 consecutive games – to lead Leicester to the what would have been only imagined as a fairytale Premier League title. Thoughts of a movie about him is in the works.

He would lead the attack as Leicester make their Champions League debut next season. This latest development would only boost the commitment and belief in the dressing room.

The Premier League champions are still after Watford striker Troy Deeney, despite this.
