400 Russian Ultras challenge England fans to a fight as further violence involving English fans breaks out in France


England and Russian fans have dared the Europe's football governing body, UEFA, by engaging in violent conduct just 24 hours after the former was warned and the latter charged. They have have been warned that they could face disqualification from the on-going tournament in France.
French riot police had to fire tear gas and baton-charged crowds of baying England fans in Lille where 400 Russian 'ultras' have reportedly vowed to attack them. Fans from England, Wales, Slovakia and Russia have been gathering in the city for Group B matches between all 4 countries. Earlier in the day, it had emerged how fans of the Orel Butchers - a group of thugs who support FC Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia - had posted a challenge to England fans online to meet them at a cafe in Lille for a fight.
Police kept watch at the Cafe Oz after the Orel Butchers warned 400 of their hardcore fans would turn up for a brawl. 



Hundreds of England fans trooped out of a pub where they had been chanting 'we hate Russia' before running through Lille city centre in full throttle chased by dozens of riot police on Wednesday, bringing traffic to a standstill. They blocked the road, banging on car doors as they attempted to pass. 
Security officers reportedly made 36 arrests during violent scenes that unfolded just hours after Russia were beaten 2-1 by Slovakia at the city's Métropole stadium. Authorities also report that 6 Russians involved in violence from last Saturday were arrested. Despite bars being shut many supporters defied a ban on drinking in the street.

Many English fans had been drinking heavily since 10am, ignoring the Russia v Slovakia match to stay in bars around the station. While riot police kept watch from a distance the fans chanted 'We hate Russia' and 'wales and England hate Russia'. 
The mood was lighthearted and when two footballs appeared the massed fans began kicking them up in the air. Police confiscated one of the balls leading to loud chants of 'Can we have our ball back.'

 Talksport commentator and ex-footballer Stan Collymore was among those caught up in the tear gas amid chaotic scenes in the northern French city. Though he posed for pictures with fans who posed with police. In footage posted online by Collymore, one man wearing a green hat is seen smashing wing mirrors off cars parked on the street.
He said: 'Somebody threw a, not a grenade, something that went bang towards some England fans and the England fans have just run.' The noise leading to the charge from outside the bar.

Witnesses said they saw paramedics giving one fan CPR - though the supporter's nationality is not known and it is unclear how he was injured. Another fan was reportedly knocked to the ground before his head was stamped on while 16 more people were hospitalised in hours of violent battles.

On Wednesday night, there were reports that mobs of Russian ultra thugs were roaming the streets looking to attack English fans. While riot police kept hundreds of drunken fans in contained areas, Russian thugs picked on individual fans. 

Russian fans inside the Mercure hotel were warned not to go outside having been told English fans wanted revenge for the attacks in Marseille.
Outside, England supports chanted God Save The Queen and England Til I Die, as well as singing 'Where were you in Marseille?' towards the assembled police 

Shortly after Russia's defeat, several CRS riot police were seen baton charging England fans. Some supporters left the scene with their eyes streaming from the effect of the tear gas.
More than 200 English fans had been drinking outside a bar close the railway station when the mood turned ugly.

A sudden explosion about 100 yards from where the fans were standing appeared to be a pre-arranged signal. The noise was so loud that many other people, mostly French, who had been watching and filming the England fans chanting and singing ran in terror.

A helicopter hovered overhead as police raced after the mob. Several officers armed with cans of pepper spray and protective vests. 


Security officers go after England fans
Russian supporters were present in the streets but there were no signs of any fighting. At one point police shouted at the media to move saying they were 'surrounded' and urging them to leave the scene.
When the police penned in a large group of fans they fired tear gas and charged at them. Several fans were seen being led away. 
Others emerged with red rimmed eyes and coughing from the effects of the tear gas. Police followed the mob back into the street as many made their way to the Grand Place - the scene of clashes on Tuesday night.
Supporters held their shirts over their mouths and left the scene rubbing their eyes and spitting. 

The bang caused the crowd to surge forward and they dispersed as police fired tear gas. Around 10 men wearing Russian Ultra t-shirts were seen walking away from the area. 
Mounted police quickly arrived on the scene as the England fans regrouped and began to chant again.
In his footage Collymore can be seen pointing to a man who has been pinned down in the road by police and saying: 'You were throwing bottles. Yes.' 
Security chiefs had feared there would be violence in Lille as Russian Ultra thugs targeted British fans and police were out in numbers throughout the day. 


Elsewhere, there was also a 'really violent' fight between up to 15 England and Wales fans that broke out on a train from Calais to Lille - a day before the teams are due to meet in their second game of Euro 2016. The fight broke out on Wednesday afternoon in a carriage between 15 passengers from the two countries,according to a report in the La Voix Du Nord newspaper. 

The incident, described as 'really violent', ended in injuries for the brawling fans. Five were arrested for 'extreme drunkeness' when the train stopped at the station of Hazebrouck, half way between Calais and Lille after French police boarded the train.
A British police spotter alerted French authorities to the trouble. The undercover officer had been on board the train when he became aware of the brawl. 

England face Wales in Lens in their second qualifying match on Thursday and an estimated 50,000 from the two countries are expected to attend the match which kicks off 2pm UK time. 
However, the majority of fans who have arrived in Lens have been well behaved, according Lille based newspaper.
Last night there was another scuffle in Lille after Russian 'ultras' attacked England fans outside a bar near the city's main train station.
Shocking footage showed the moment a lone English supporter was beaten by a pack of fearsome Russian thugs after getting separated from his friends. 

Two Russian fans are arrested
The video was filmed in the early hours of this morning after England fans had left a nearby pub in the centre of Lille - just hours after a separate flare-up at a bar.
The Russian hooligans - who have been described as 'hyper violent' and 'extremely well-trained' by Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin - marched towards the English supporters as the rival fans squared off. 
One England fan - wearing a white T-shirt - was separated from his group and he was kicked and punched repeatedly by the violent Russian group.
Following the fight Russian supporters mocked the English fans for 'running away' and celebrated their 'victory' despite being 'only five against 20'.
The attack was broken up by French police who sprayed tear gas at the Russian supporters - who then sprinted off. The injured fan was left clutching the railing as he limped away from the scene.
Two Russian supporters have been held following the scuffle in Lille's Grand Place. 
Four other Russian hooligans were arrested in Lille after being found with an arsenal of weapons. The weapons haul included baseball bats and knives.
