EURO 2016: An incredible FIVE torn jerseys and a burst ball all in 1 game...the Germans have lost their touch and Rio Ferdinand has something to say!

How do you explain five torn jerseys all from one team and and a burst ball in a single game? Then how do you explain it when you realise the manufacturers Puma and Adidas are all German companies? Would you describe it as a perfect coincidence or simply the production of poor quality goods?

Anyways, whatever you decide, that was the embarrassing incident that occurred in a tightly contested but entertaining game between France and Switzerland on Sunday night. While both teams have progressed from Group A as first and second respectively, the game which ended in a goalless draw, saw four Switzerland players loose their jerseys to physical play.

The French players' physicality exposed how flimsy and "sub-standard" the away team's jerseys were.

Arsenal latest signing Granit Xhaka - who had to change his top twice - was one of four Swiss players to change their shirts in the course of the game, joining team-mates Blerim Dzemaili, Admir Mehmedi and striker Breel Embolo in having to briefly leave the field.
BBC's pundits on the night - Gary Linekar, Thierry Henry (a Puma ambassador), and Rio Ferdinand - could not help but pass comment on the incident.

'I think the main thing is the quality of the Swiss shirts,' presenter Gary Lineker began before Rio Ferdinand turned to his co-pundit Thierry Henry and said, 'Thierry can speak to Puma about that…'
Henry, who signed a multi-year partnership agreement with Puma in 2011, replied with a quivering smile: 'I can call them now if you want?'

Now Arsenal and co have to do a double check!

Meanwhile, the Adidas ball burst following a heavy second half collision between Antoine Griezmann and Valon Behrami

'You know when you're in trouble watching a football match when some of the highlights are a really bad pitch, torn shirts and a burst football,' Lineker summarised at the end of the stalemate.
'The Swiss shirts were made of paper, I think. You've got a burst Adidas ball and ripped Puma shirts... so much for German efficiency!'
Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer defended the quality of the side's shirts after the game, saying: 'Shirts ripped? It can happen.
'That means it was a fight on the pitch. We had a lot of duels. A jersey can fail. But there were a lot, maybe… Well I can't say we have to change because Puma's great.'

Manager Vladimir Petkovic added: 'Shirts? Do you sell for Nike? If a shirt is pulled it can come apart at the seams. There were four or five torn. But when you pull shirts they do break.'

My question at the end of the day though is, should we be focusing on why the shirts are torn or why the French players didn't get in trouble for it?
